Are you ready for a little ‘SÉANCE’ this Halloween? Darkfield Australia has you covered!
The highly-acclaimed multi-sensory production is making a return to Queensland, visiting the Gold Coast’s Home of the Arts (HOTA) from 28 October 2021.
Presented by Realscape Productions, in association with Darkfield UK, the production uses binaural sound to put audience members in the centre of the supernatural experience.
”SÉANCE’ is an experience that delves into the minds of a group of people, making them question what is and isn’t actually happening in the room. The show takes place inside a 40-foot shipping container, with each audience member wearing a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. With their eyes taken away, the powerful 360-degree audio produces a soundtrack that will make them doubt their own sense of reality.
This is the first installation in Darkfield’s signature thrilling experiences, which invite audiences to be engulfed in complete darkness and have their grasp on reality completely altered.
Realscape Productions Producer, Nathan Alexander, spoke about this show easily being a favourite among audiences for its supernatural aesthetics.
“SÉANCE has been a crowd favourite everywhere we go,” said Alexander.
“For some people, it can be scary or a thrill, but for others, it has this amazing sound design that really toys with your brain. The show is a twist on a traditional séance – don’t expect a Gold Coast rollercoaster, but something a little more strange and sinister.”
This is the first time any of the DArkfield shipping container experiences will play on the Gold Coast. HOTA CEO, Criena Gehrke, spoke about its perfect timing – landing just at the start of the spooky season.
“We can’t wait to host Darkfield at HOTA as the first destination on the Gold Coast,” said Gehrke.
”Their immersive theatrical experiences are loved all over the world and having them in residence with ‘SÉANCE’ over Halloween and into summer is a real coup for the city.”
‘SÉANCE’ runs for 20 minutes and will play at various times from Wednesday to Sunday at HOTA, Home of the Arts, from 28 October to 14 November 2021.
Tickets cost $20 and are available at http://darkfield.eventbrite.
