Knot - Darkfield Radio

Darkfield Radio returns to our headphones with ‘Knot’

The highly-acclaimed at-home audio experience, Darkfield Radio, returns for its second season in Australia.

Landing on our airwaves with its next instalment entitled ‘Knot’, this binaural immersive event is guaranteed to blur the lines between the real and the imagined.

Produced in Australia by Melbourne-based company Realscape Productions, ‘Knot’ takes audiences through three intersecting, interwoven episodes revolving around a traumatic event, which questions how inevitable anything is.

As part of the Tribeca Film Festival Immersive Line-up, ‘Knot’ is a three-part immersive experience, designed for one person. The audio show unfolds in three different locations all in the space of one evening, transporting audiences outside their comfort zones.

In the first episode, participants will situate themselves on a park bench, the second in a car, and the third in a room of their home. For the story to be complete, all three episodes will need to be experienced. Realscape Productions Producer, Amy Johnson, spoke of the new Darkfield Radio season launch.

“Darkfield Radio Season 1 exposed audiences to the mysterious and supernatural inside their homes, magnified by Darkfield’s signature 360-degree binaural sound,” said Johnson

“We’re looking forward to getting audiences outside of their homes for Season 2, in COVID-safe settings of course, and pushing them out of their comfort zones even more.”

Ahead of the Season 2 launch, Darkfield Season 1, which includes ‘Double’, ‘Visitors’ and ‘Eternal’ will broadcast to homes around Australia. This is a limited season available until 20 June 2021. Darkfield Radion Season 1 was the first-ever audio-only experience to be a part of the Venice International Film Festival, before being nominated for various awards at Raindance Film Festival. Artistic Directors, Glen Neath and David Rosenberg spoke of pushing the second season to the next level.

“After the world spent so much time at home in 2020, we knew we had to think outside the box for the second season of Darkfield Radio,” commented Neath and Rosenberg.

“We hope audiences will enjoy this cyclical story, conjured into existence by a collective effort and tied up like a knot with no ends. It will also give audiences a chance to immerse themselves in some new places”.

Darkfield is known for producing innovative immersive experiences and digital work that embrace both technology and theatre. Their location-based work utilises striking sets and shipping containers, binaural 360-degree sound, complete darkness and a variety of sensory effects, where each participant is situated at the centre of intense, evolving narratives. Darkfield brings binaural audio into the audience’s environment via a phone app and a set of noise-cancelling headphones.

‘Knot’ will play from 5:00 PM every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 25 June to 30 September 2021. Alternatively, Darkfield Radio Season 1 will run every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 20 June 2021.

Tickets and further production details are available on Darkfield Radio’s website.
