The Original Red Wiggle to play Hello Sunshine 2023!

Forget mashed potatoes, it’s mashed-up mixes! Murray Cook, the original red wiggle, is now a DJ and will headline the festival premiering his skills on the decks to an audience of up to 10,000. Not only does he mix a mean fruit salad, but he also does a mean mix on the decks! Festival goers will be more than wiggling to his unmissable set.

161“I am very excited to be moving into the world of DJing, it’s great to connect with the fans that grew up with The Wiggles in a different way,” says Murray.

Lucky Ent will bring music, family-friendly fun and old school festival vibes in a brand-new day-long event at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges this coming February, 2023. Hello Sunshine is a single day music and food festival offering a great summer’s day out for families and people of all ages taking place in the iconic Caribbean Gardens in Scoresby.

The event will feature an array of entertainment and activities including live music performances headlined by Aria Award winning artist Amy Shark. Other fun attractions include amusement rides, multicultural food trucks, a fireworks display, market stalls and more. The Cat Empire, Pierce Brothers, 360, Murray ‘The Original Red Wiggle’, Yo! Mafia and Cadence will join Amy on the main stage with the full line up announced today.

“Lucky Ent is really excited to be launching the first ever Hello Sunshine Music and Food Festival at the iconic Caribbean Gardens, inside the Caribbean Park precinct,” says Luke Udorovic, Director, Lucky Ent.

“This is the first festival ever to be held in the gardens that have played host to millions of families, spanning across generations and we hope the local community will embrace the event.”

Situated at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, Caribbean Gardens is a huge, picturesque venue spanning 179,000 sqm of versatile green space. Established over 200,000 sqm of on-water space, the venue is privately owned by Melbourne’s Spooner Family. Renowned by locals as the former home to the Caribbean Market, the destination is also the original home of Moomba.

Amy Shark will perform hot on the heels of her ‘See U Somewhere Australia’ tour and is excited to be a part of the festival. “I can’t wait to see you at the Hello Sunshine Festival, I love travelling to new places and meeting the locals so come and say hi,” says Amy.

Aussie icons The Cat Empire will make an exciting return to the stage, with the band made up of originals Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill. With a history of multiple platinum records, awards, sold out tours and over 250 million streams, Felix and Ollie are welcoming a fresh new era for the band. “We’ve had this great run of 20 years with the group, but The Cat Empire still has a place to play in a new moment,” says Felix.

Lucky Ent saw a gap in the market for a festival that catered to a demographic that was once in the thick of it, and now have families, live in the area and still want that festival experience they once loved.

“Many of the team at Lucky Ent have young families these days. This type of daytime festival hybrid is perfect for people of all ages and walks of life looking for an affordable experience,” says Keiran Dole, Partner, Lucky Ent.

The team at Lucky Ent are grateful to The Spooner Family, Knox Council & GTR Events for working in conjunction with them to bring this vision to life. The festival starts 1pm and runs to 11pm and is supported by HIT Network, Pirate Life, Canadian Club, Jim Beam, Ticketek, AfterPay and Knox Council.

Tickets to the festival be purchased from the Hello Sunshine website.

Reflecting on Reviews in 2023

Beloved theatre community, where to start?

Reviews are a staple of what we do here at Theatre Haus, it’s where we started – complimentary reviews in exchange for complimentary tickets to events. They aren’t without their controversy, and so, we wanted to lay it all out on the table – the good, the bad and the complicated.
