David Venn Enterprises, known for their successful productions such as “Cruel Intentions: The ’90s Musical” and “The Wedding Singer,” is thrilled to announce the cast and creative team for their upcoming professional premiere, “Elvis: A Musical Revolution.”

Penned by acclaimed international writers, this bio-musical delves into the extraordinary life of the legendary cultural icon and rock ‘n’ roll superstar, Elvis Presley. After an extensive nation-wide talent search that drew over 700 applicants, the role of Elvis has been awarded to theatre and television star Rob Mallett.

Rob, originally from Tasmania’s Huon Valley, discovered his passion for performing while working in his family’s apple orchard on a performing arts school scholarship. Since then, he has secured prominent roles in main stage musicals such as “Disney’s Aladdin,” “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” and “Les Misérables.” He has also made appearances on popular Australian television programs like “Home & Away” and “House Husbands.” Expressing his gratitude, Rob stated, “It is an absolute honour to have the opportunity to play [Elvis].”

In partnership with Authentic Brands Group (Authentic), the owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, this musical will take audiences on a journey through pivotal moments in Elvis’ life, from his childhood in Tupelo, Mississippi, to his triumphant ’68 Comeback Special. With over 40 iconic Elvis Presley hit songs, this production promises to connect audiences of all ages with the music that has left an indelible cultural impact.

The Australian premiere of “Elvis: A Musical Revolution” will kick off at Sydney’s State Theatre on August 5, followed by a run at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre starting from October 6. The creative team behind this highly anticipated production includes Alister Smith as Director, Michael Ralph as Choreographer, and Daniel Puckey as Musical Director. With an all-Australian cast, the show is set to be a spectacular event, showcasing the talent of local performers.

David Venn, the producer, expressed his hope that the production will unveil the man behind the myth and inspire audiences with the story of a boy who rose from humble beginnings to become an iconic figure. Joining the team as an Elvis consultant is Mark Andrew, a seasoned Elvis tribute artist with extensive experience touring the world.
