Wizard of Oz Arena Spectacular

The Spectacular Wizard is Coming to AUS!

‘The Wizard of Oz’ is venturing to Brisbane in a huge arena spectacular!

Presented by Harvest Rain for a limited touring season, audiences can expect a spell of over 900 performers in one of Australia’s biggest revivals of the show.

Heading over the rainbow and landing at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, ‘The Wizard of Oz – Arena Spectacular’ will perform for three shows only, during the July school holidays. For families wanting a day out, the production is set to bring a whole lot of magic to life.

Producer, Tim O’Connor says the technology used within the show is nothing like audiences have seen before.

“The technology we’re using to bring Oz to life for this production is state-of-the-art and totally breathtaking,” he said.

“There’s 9-metre tall LED screens wrapping around the entire set playing wall-to-wall animations throughout the whole show so we really will feel transported into the fantastical land of Oz.”

With an award-winning cast, including Gold Logie winning actor and beloved Australian icon, John Wood, the show is set to wow audiences near and far.

Brisbane audiences will recognise Wood from his work in ‘Blue Heelers’, ‘Rafferty’s Rules’ and most recently, Harvest Rain’s production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ at QPAC. As a titan of Australian entertainment, Wood will bring enormous flair to the role of the Wizard.

Joining Wood onstage as Dorothy Gale is Harvest Rain newcomer, Carly Bettinson. At only 19 years of age, Bettinson recently graduated the Brisbane Academy of Musical Theatre (BAMT) and is a Brisbane local. Her love for theatre first blossomed as an audience member attending Harvest Rain’s productions, so it’s amazing to witness the full circle of her career.

Other cast members include Chris Geoghegan as Scarecrow, Michael Nunn as the Tinman, Josh Whitten as the Lion, Aurelie Roque as Glinda the Good Witch and Bil Heit as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Rounding out the principal cast will be Matty Johnston, Zane Powell, Joanna Nash, Bethany Wilson, Kamara Henricks. They’ll act alongside a large mass ensemble of over 900 young performers who will play a range of roles including Munchkins, Emerald City Citizens, Poppies, Jitterbugs and Winkies.

‘The Wizard of Oz – Arena Spectacular’ journeys down the yellow brick road in July 2019, with Brisbane Entertainment Centre the first stop for this adventure. The production will then move to Adelaide Entertainment Centre Arena in October 2019, Qudos Bank Arena in January 2020 and AIS Arena in April 2020.
