Ipswich Little Theatre’s One Act Play Festival returns in 2022

Ipswich Little Theatre’s inaugural One Act Play Festival will return in August 2022.

Hosted from 12-14 August 2022,  theatremakers from across Southeast Queensland will gather to showcase their work to local audiences, in an effort to win a bundle of prizes.

Each year, approximately 20 plays are entered across categories of ten-minute, youth, open and monologue categories, with each entry vying for various awards. Festivals are held from Dalby to Beenleigh, to Sunshine Coast and in between, with industry-representatives adjudicating each performance.

Presented as part of the Southeast Queensland Festival Circuit, which runs from June to September, the Ipswich One Act Play Festival is one of the longest-running festivals, having been presented for over 66 years. This year marks its return after COVID lockdowns affected the event in 2021, which saw it close down before it had begun.

Now, performers can return to Ipswich in 2022 as the event excitedly moves ahead, with busy preparations for the weekend-long competition.  In 2022, Ipswich Little Theatre has chosen award-winning director, playwright, producer and actor, Elodie Boal as their adjudicator.

The weekend marks an excellent opportunity for audiences to be entertained by a variety of theatre groups in a great selection of plays, both published and unpublished.
