Murder Mystery Turned Play Stabs its Way into Javeenbah

Javeenbah Theatre is ready to play host to the Murder Mystery Board Game turned hilarious and fantastic theatrical event, Clue!

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu.

The genre is making a striking comeback with recent films including Death on the Nile, Murder on the Orient Express, See How They Run and Amsterdam. Is this murder mystery trend the new zombie era?

Director Shelley Grace reflects, “Having been offered a spot in Javeenbah Theatre’s prestigious 2022 lineup was both exciting and terrifying… knowing the quality of theatre produced at the venue – she may be small but she is mighty – the challenge was to encapsulate both of those feelings in a production an audience would love.”

Grace has been thrilled to direct Clue, “Being a stickler for all things funny of course narrowed down my choices… so ‘Clue: On Stage’ the terrifyingly funny farce that is as fast-paced as it is exciting was exactly what I needed to make my directorial debut at Javeenbah.”

“With my stellar cast and surprise set, I am truly hoping to do the theatre proud as we shock, terrify and entertain our theatre patrons in this classic whodunnit with a twist (or 4).”

Just like its name-sake board game, the characters are iconic and the action moronic. Grace notes, “I’m sure the audiences will all arrive with an idea of who the killer is…. and I can’t wait to see it all play out.”

Clue is a perfect night out for all who love a bit of comedy and a murder mystery. It runs for 9 performances from Friday 18 November to Saturday 3 December 2022.
