The Wizard of Oz – In Concert to Play QPAC’s Concert Hall this Winter

Prospero Arts’ latest production, The Wizard of Oz – In Concert, is set to take the stage at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) Concert Hall in Brisbane for an exclusive season from 30 June to 2 July 2023.

Following the successful inaugural production Singin in the Rain – In Concert in 2022, QPAC and Prospero Arts will present The Wizard of Oz – In Concert, directed by the highly accomplished Amy Campbell.

The production will feature some of Australia’s most beloved musical theatre stars, along with a musical score performed by an on-stage orchestra. Audiences will be transported to a land full of music and color, and be captivated by iconic songs such as We’re Off to See the Wizard, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, If I Only Had a Brain, and the Academy Award®-winning Over The Rainbow.

Prospero Arts Managing Director, Hayley Johnson, expressed her delight in partnering with QPAC once again to present this brand-new production and to build on the success of Singin’ In the Rain – In Concert.

“We are thrilled to once again bring the very best national and local artistic and creative talent together to present a captivating in-concert version of this delightful story on QPAC’s Concert Hall stage,” Ms. Johnson said.

The Wizard of Oz – In Concert promises to be a wonderful family outing during the June/July school holidays, and will be a reimagined version of the timeless story of love, friendship, and the quest for happiness in following one’s dreams.

After its premiere in 1939, the classic film The Wizard of Oz, starring the legendary Judy Garland, was named the most influential film of all time and has been adored across generations over the last 85 years.

The Wizard of Oz – In Concert will run over five shows only from 30 June to 2 July 2023, and tickets are now available for purchase at QPAC’s website or by phone at 136 246.

QPAC and Prospero Arts invite everyone to experience this captivating performance and to be transported “over the rainbow” to the magical world of The Wizard of Oz.
