Dead Puppet Society - DPS Social Workshop

Dead Puppet Society launches new After Hours Workshop

Brisbane-based international production house and design company Dead Puppet Society (DPS) has launched DPS Social, a new workshop series aimed at art and design enthusiasts.

The workshop series will take place at their HQ in The Princess Theatre’s creative precinct in Woolloongabba and promises to be an after-hours-making party with limited capacity.

Dead Puppet Society’s DPS Social workshop series will focus on making handmade treasures using the company’s approach to timeless craftsmanship and cutting-edge technologies. The series will feature unique workshops and activities designed to encourage creativity and artistic expression.

The first DPS Social workshop will take place on Friday, 26 May, from 7-9 pm, and will celebrate the return of the sci-fi hit ‘Ishmael’ to QPAC following its world premiere at Brisbane Festival in 2021, and as part of BAD (Brisbane Art Design) 2023.

Participants will have the chance to work with Dead Puppet Society’s talented artisans in the Fabrication Workshop where they will assemble an intricately detailed model spacecraft. The miniatures – display model versions of the “Hopper Pods” – created by participants will be scale replicas of those featured onstage during ‘Ishmael’.

Dead Puppet Society’s creations have been described as deeply imaginative design-led theatre, producing visually stunning works filled with spectacle and wonder. Recent box office hits include ‘Holding Achilles’, ‘The Wider Earth’, ‘Ishmael’, ‘Laser Beak Man’, and ‘Storm Boy’. They also create captivating experiences for events and public spaces, from one-of-a-kind, laser-cut artefacts and open-air performances to large-scale installations.

The DPS Social workshop series is the perfect opportunity for participants to experience a fun, intimate after-hours-making party and learn from the best in the industry.

Don’t miss your chance to work with the talented artisans behind some of the most innovative and visually stunning theatre productions in recent years.

Tickets for the DPS Social workshop are priced at $135.00 and include bar service and all required materials. The event is strictly for participants aged 18 and above.
