‘Merry Mixology: A Boozy Christmas Cabaret’ announced for Brisbane
Outside The Jukebox, the talented group of world-class vocalists hailing from Meanjin/Brisbane, is set to spread the festive cheer with their latest immersive holiday special, “Merry Mixology: A Boozy Christmas Cabaret.” Following their earlier hit musical revue, “MIXTAPE: Rewind to the 80s,” the group is back to add a touch of holiday magic to your Christmas season.
This unique and immersive experience promises to be the ultimate Christmas party, with episodes of fun and entertainment served alongside retro cocktails. The event will be hosted at the Mix Bar in Woolloongabba from December 10th to 22nd, offering a special holiday treat for audiences in the region.
“Merry Mixology” unfolds in four punchy ‘episodes,’ each paired with its own vintage cocktail, ensuring that guests get into the festive spirit in style. The show transports the audience back to the soundstage of a vintage variety television program, with each episode hosted by a different sparkling Christmas ‘celebrity,’ adding unique flavors and feelings to the season.
The star-studded cast of “Merry Mixology” includes Hayden Rodgers, Marcia Penman, Oliver Samson, and Hannah Grondin, promising a night of world-class vocals, dancing, drag performances, puppetry(?), humor, and of course, the quintessential ingredients of the holiday season – sugar and booze.
Outside The Jukebox, known for their mastery of vocal harmonies, are like mixologists on stage, blending their four voices into sensational harmonies. Their diverse styles allow them to cover a wide range of genres seamlessly, creating a harmonious and synergistic sound. The original arrangements for the production are a brainchild of the group themselves, under the musical direction of Marcia Penman, with band arrangements by Nathaniel Stevenson.
