‘The Book of Mormon’ returns to Australia

The critically acclaimed musical, ‘The Book of Mormon’ is set to return to Sydney at the Capitol Theatre in July 2025.

Winner of nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the Grammy® for Best Musical Theatre album, ‘The Book of Mormon’ follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get.

Premiering in March 2011 at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre, ‘The Book of Mormon’ has enjoyed phenomenal success, breaking box office records across the United States and the West End. Its initial Australian run in 2015 not only set the record for the highest-selling on-sale period at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre but also achieved the Helpmann Award for Best Musical.

As ‘The Book of Mormon’ prepares for its thrilling return, talented performers are invited to audition for a chance to be part of this landmark production. Auditions are set to be held in major Australian cities, offering a unique opportunity for actors to showcase their abilities and potentially join the cast of this internationally celebrated musical.

‘The Book of Mormon’ features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the creative forces behind the Emmy and Peabody award-winning television show ‘South Park’, now in its 27th season, as well as feature films ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut’ and ‘Team America: World Police’.

Lopez co-created the Broadway musical ‘Avenue Q’ and co-wrote the songs for Disney’s ‘Frozen’ and ‘Coco’. Lopez is the first person ever to achieve a double ‘EGOT,’ winning at least two each of the four major entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards.

‘The Book of Mormon’ is produced locally by Anne Garefino, Important Musicals, and Suzanne Jones for JONES Theatrical Group, with support from the NSW Government through Destination NSW.
