World Class Theatrical Performances are now available in Australia with Marquee TV

The multi-genre performing arts streaming service, Marquee TV, has announced its launch into the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Offering a full slate of programming, the service will showcase world-class contemporary and classic dance, opera, music and theatrical performances. Available on the web, iOS, Android, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, this move follows its United Kingdom debut in 2018 and successful expansion into the United States market in 2019.

Marquee TV was built to serve passionate and arts-hungry audiences. The network features a collection of content that spans thousands of hours. Included in the service are exclusive titles, behind-the-scenes action, early releases, director’s cuts and shorts.

In its latest move, Marquee TV will provide Australian and New Zealand audiences direct access to a variety of carefully curated performances by globally renowned artistic powerhouses. Co-Founder and CEO of Marquee TV, Simon Walker, spoke of the service opening up user access to cultural content.

“Watching performances on-demand is a distinct experience from heading to the theatre and streaming is opening up cultural content to a new arts-curious generation,” said Simon Walker.

“After successful launches in the UK and US, we’re thrilled to bring Marquee TV to Australia and New Zealand, giving customers access to premier multi-genre performing arts content that is not available anywhere else.”

Some theatre picks include acclaimed productions by the Royal Shakespeare Company, including ‘Richard II’ starring David Tennant (‘Doctor Who’, ‘Jessica Jones’). Other categories feature The Royal Ballet’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’, the Royal Opera House’s ‘Madama Butterfly’, Bolshoi Ballet’s ‘Swan Lake’, and performances by New York City Ballet in Paris. While some works have received glowing reviews, many will be new to local audiences.
