2024 Queensland Music Awards Open for Nominations

The Queensland music community is set for another big year as the 2024 Queensland Music Awards (QMA) officially opens its doors for song nominations. Artists across the state, both emerging and established, have the opportunity to submit their tracks and get recognized for their exceptional contributions to the music industry.

The awards ceremony, scheduled for 17 April 2024, will once again be held at the esteemed Fortitude Music Hall. QMusic, the organization behind QMA, aims to honor the remarkable music released in 2023 and will spotlight a broad spectrum of talent. Last year’s ceremony witnessed the acknowledgment of prominent acts such as Thelma Plum, Ball Park Music, Sycco, DZ Deathrays, and Miiesha, further emphasizing the importance and impact of the awards.

Kris Stewart, CEO of QMusic, emphasized the platform’s role in fostering talent, stating, “The awards have consistently celebrated established artists and have also been instrumental in propelling the careers of emerging talents.”

A notable update for the 2024 QMA is the inclusion of two additional categories. The Stage & Contemporary Classical category has been expanded to welcome stage music composers. Furthermore, the Music for Screen category has been introduced to recognize original compositions crafted for film, TV, and gaming. Stewart remarked on the expansion, “Queensland boasts a plethora of artists producing music for stage and screen. It’s essential to acknowledge these sectors that are paving vibrant avenues for our artists.”

The popular People’s Choice awards are set to make a comeback in 2024, with the nomination process commencing this November.

For eligibility, artists who have unveiled songs and music videos from 1 December 2022 to 30 November 2023 can submit their nominations across a myriad of award categories, including the newly introduced ones, by 14 November.
