Lockyer Regional Performing Arts Inc. is set to captivate audiences with laughter and heartwarming moments as they bring the beloved musical “Honk!” to the Gatton Shire Hall from May 2nd to May 4th.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, “The Ugly Duckling,” “Honk!” follows the journey of Ugly as he discovers the beauty of being different. Since its inception in 1993, “Honk!” has been captivating audiences worldwide with its heartwarming tale of acceptance and belonging. Winner of the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical, “Honk!” continues to charm audiences with its universal message of embracing what makes us unique.

Directed by Tammy Sarah Linde and Luke O’Hagan, the production promises a blend of humor and touching moments suitable for the whole family. Linde describes the show as quirky and light-hearted, with a poignant message about self-acceptance. “It’s ok to be different,” she says, emphasizing the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness.

The diverse cast, ranging from five to forty years old, brings a range of talents and experiences to the stage. Lockyer Regional Performing Arts is proud to provide performance opportunities for children and young people, fostering a community of enthusiastic performers.

For O’Hagan, the move to the Gatton Shire Hall represents an exciting opportunity to engage with a wider audience. “There’s something great about an urban theatre,” he says, highlighting the central location’s accessibility.

In addition to the performances, audiences can indulge in a Gala Dinner on Saturday night, featuring a delicious two-course menu prepared by Lockyer District High School’s hospitality students.

With four shows over three days, including a Saturday matinee, there are ample opportunities for families to experience the magic of “Honk!” firsthand. Bookings for the Gala Dinner close on April 24th, with dietary needs catered for.
