Starring Brisbane-based musical theatre star, Matt Young, the new ‘Circus Carnival Cabaret’ will debut on Saturday, 20 August at the Woolshed Baa & Grill in Blackall, QLD.
Performing as part of the inaugural Tambo Circus Carnival, which celebrates the birthplace the of Australian Circus, the ten-day circus event will showcase a range of art exhibitions and performances, including Young’s new work.
‘Circus Carnival Cabaret’ is inspired by influences like Danny Kaye, The Muppet Show, and Stephen Sondheim. Speaking about his show, Matt Young shared the creative inspiration behind this new performance.
“After returning from Adelaide Fringe with Pink Lake Production of ‘The Cocoon’, I wanted to develop a musical comedy cabaret show, to share my 32 years of national and international performing in musical theatre,” said Young.
“I had tried out material for a new show, at local variety night Brisbaret, and had a great response. However, I wasn’t sure what the next step was to be. Enter Blackall-Tambo Regionall Council and Red Ridge Interiors, who asked me to create a show for the Circus Carnival showcasing the skills and talent of Matt Young the entertainer!”
Blackall Tambo Circus Carnival comes together from 19-28 August 2022 to display mixture of dance, circus, cabaret, historical exhbition, live entertainment and much more.
Other highlights over the ten days include local Bush Beatz dancers biggest dance performance for the year – ‘Bringing the Circus Home’ touring in both Blackall and Tambo, and Big Top Shows by Ashton Circus, originally founded by James Henry Ashton in the early 1800s, will also take place in both towns.
‘Circus Carnival Cabaret’ highlights the fun and frivolity of the festival, while displaying Young’s wealth of talent.
